AARA Welcomes Dr. Shiva S. Malaty to Chandler and Gilbert, Arizona Locations

We are proud to announce the introduction of Dr. Shiva S. Malaty to our esteemed rheumatology provider team at Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates. The addition of Dr. Malaty allows us to expand our access and care for more patients in Chandler and Gilbert areas. We look forward to caring for new rheumatology patients and those already established with Dr. Malaty.

Dr. Malaty completed her Internal Medicine residency at HonorHealth in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she served as chief resident. She received several awards during her time in residency including Resident of the Year, Leader in Medicine, and Humanism in Medicine. She went on to complete her Rheumatology fellowship at The University of Arizona. Dr. Malaty has published several journal articles as well as completed practice changing quality improvement projects. As a refugee to this country, she is passionate about serving the underserved.

During her spare time, she loves to travel and most importantly spend time with her husband and son.

Dr. John R. P. Tesser Awarded Master Designation by ACR

 

Felicitations to our own Dr. John. R.P. Tesser, MD, FACP, FACR, MACR, for receiving the Master Designation from the American College of Rheumatology (ACR). Recognition as a Master of the American College of Rheumatology is one of the highest honors the College bestows. The designation of Master is conferred on ACR members who have made outstanding contributions to the ACR and the field of rheumatology through scholarly achievement and/or service to their patients, students, and profession.

Specializing in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), Lindsay has revolutionized patient care with a comprehensive approach that includes personalized treatment plans and unwavering support. Her impactful work has earned her the Healthcare Professional of the Year award, as voted by the EDS & HSD community.

Lindsay DeWolfe, DNP, FNP-C, is a dedicated practitioner at Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates, specializing in diagnosing and directing care for EDS patients. She has created a comprehensive roadmap to facilitate the healing journey, tirelessly providing resources and information to support EDS patients, ensuring a safe space free from the gaslighting often encountered. Her impactful work has earned her the Healthcare Professional of the Year award, as voted by the EDS & HSD community.

“Lindsay has been integral to the outreach and ability to help so many get diagnosed in the state of Arizona and even outside of it. Since she has joined AARA Rheum practice she has widened the scope of our ability to serve the under-served in this community. She created the famous “EDS Roadmap” to help facilitate and direct care for our zebras in the valley. Without her, we wouldn’t have reached so many more souls in need of this diagnosis and care. She’s one in a million!!!”

Weather changes fail to impact risks for osteoarthritis pain, rheumatoid arthritis

Weather changes are not risk factors for rheumatoid arthritis or knee, hip or low back pain, but do appear to influence gout flares, according to a meta-analysis published in Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism.

“The weather is frequently blamed for changes in musculoskeletal health,” Manuela L. Ferreira, PhD, of the University of Sydney, told Healio. “However, this belief is not consistently supported by research.”
